I don’t post about products often because it’s important to really, I mean, really love a product and tell people to go spend their hard earned money on it. But with these toys, I can’t help but want to ‘unbox’ this for you. You must get these for your kiddos.
Little Man is a busy dude. He is high energy, high drama, high entertainment value. So finding a toy that he can actually sit down and spend good wad of time with is a win for me. A win, because I can actually do something for myself. This is important Mama’s. As I type this, he is entertained by his “GUYS” on his own without me as his jester morning to night. And its a win because he doesn’t just love these toys, he is OBSESSED! This toy set teaches about sports and teamwork, number sense, sorting, and mostly importantly imaginative play. Put away the iPads, or at least give them a good charging and check it….
The toy is HOCKEY GUYS. It’s old school and it’s awesome. Inspired by vintage toys like army guys, this line of toys, made by Kaskey Toys, covers most sports like Baseball, Soccer (Girls), Football, Basketball and even college football. Obviously, we are a hockey family so the impulse buy would definitely be awarded to Hockey Guys, the generic sets and the NHL sets…Just so you know how clinger we are with these toys, we have 6 sets.
GAME ON! |
It’s impossible to go anywhere without a box. We actually have one at the cottage, one at his grandma’s, one at hubby’s family cottage, 2 sets at home, and one mini set for the car {we’re on the road a lot}. We also have a Baseball Guys set to boot. He wants them all…and we will probably get them all. Sorry, not Sorry.
Can’t say no to that smile. Charge it! |
Although it gives me a minute to get some things done, the real joy is listening to him play. I can be across the room and hear his little voice taking on the dialogue of the referee, the players, the coaches as well as the fans, while changing the inflection of his voice for each. He gives commentary of the play by play and doesn’t even realize that I’m creeping on him from behind the couch taking in his innocence. It makes me smile and melts my heart. It’s an awesome moment when you can stop and really pay attention to your child and how they are learning. I have more than one of those “mommy-moments” watching him interact with his toys. I actually view Toy Story with greater empathy now as he builds a relationship with these toys.
When it comes to hockey, Little Man is very particular. He is 3 years old and his attention to detail when it comes to hockey is impeccable. In fact, he follows the rules in hockey more so than he follows rules in real life….He makes sure the players serve their penalty{and for how long}, that the goals are celebrated with ‘hockey hugs’ and that they go to the dressing room in single file in between periods to “rest up”. I even had to download “O’Canada” and “The Star-Spangled Banner” on YouTube so the guys could stand on the lines and sing before the game. He even makes them sway back and forth.
Zamboni says, “Come on, I’m ready to clean the ice!” |
He loves the fact that the set comes with all the required pieces, 29 to be exact. Including a puck, 2 nets, an vinyl and durable ice surface, boards, referee, and fourteen players all packed perfectly in the most convenient case that he can carry. The quality is amazing as well…unless your golden retriever crushed a couple in jealousy. It’s ok we have 6 sets…
