Kombucha is so hot right now. I bet you see it on the grocery stores shelves more often. Juice bars are popping up more and more often focusing on holistic health and endorsing the science behind this mystery drink that seems to be the new craze.
The thing is, Kombucha is nothing new. Kombucha, fermented tea, has been around for a long time. Kombucha reigns from Asian decent. It is said that kombucha goes way back to China 221 BC…how’s that for vintage making a comeback?
After every hot yoga class, I make my way kiddie corner to Simply Well, my favourite organic juice bar, specializing in offering holistic nutrition choices such as acai bowls, overnight oats, salads, smoothies, kombucha, energy balls, supplements, and of course juices. They also offer nutritional consultations as well.
Every time I go in I’m like the kid in the front row with their hand up asking questions non-stop. The staff are amazing and you can tell they are passionate and knowledgeable about their cause. In one of my conversations with Devon Cosgrove, one of Simply Well’s registered holistic nutritionists and live cell Microscopists, I became more in tune and aware of the benefits of Kombucha.
So why Kombucha? Here’s Why I put Kombucha in my belly:
1) DIGESTION
2) IMMUNE SYSTEM –
3) JOINT SUPPORT/MUSCLE RECOVERY
BONUS BENEFIT! It tastes so good! I love the taste. I am a tea lover. It is known. But if you are also like me and you do not drink pop it is a tasty, tart, fizzy, cold beverage! My favourite flavours from SIMPLY WELL are Tart Cherry, Carrot Tumeric, and Concord Grape. Did I mention that they even have Kombucha on TAP?! Somehow that makes it cooler to me.
Be Aware: Don’t go overboard with this beverage. It is not like soda or juice. It is more powerful and your body won’t love it if you crush three every day. Ease into it. It should be noted that if you are pregnant it is advised that you do not indulge in the Kombucha lifestyle just yet. Kombucha does contain caffeine and also sugar! Diabetics should also be aware of the sugar levels and what your body requires to function properly and safely.
I learn something new every visit to my friends at SIMPLY WELL.
