I’m no spring chicken. I am aging, as is everybody else. And although ‘they’ say that age is just a number, I have always wanted to maintain that “Forever Young” title. I used to be self-conscious of my age because my husband is younger than me so I wanted to up keep the ideal of “youth”. As a disclaimer, my husband thinks I’m crazy and always says I’m beautiful, so this was all internally proposed. But truth be told, I wasn’t really working hard to attain this ideal, specifically in the skin care department.
I was lucky growing up. I didn’t suffer from teenage hormonal angst and stress from pipples or zits. I was blessed with easy to care for skin. I slept with my make up on and rarely (generous description) washed my face at night. I also wore light makeup of some sort everyday even if it was just a coat of mascara or a dab of concealer under the eyes. Face wash? Creams? Serums? Ah, no. Even sunscreen is a vice that is dangerously taken too lightly in my world. I lube up my kids, but I never seem to think my own skin health holds the same amount of urgency.
Fast forward to today. Still aging. Still chasing the youthful ideal. But this time the tune hums a little differently. I didn’t feel as “lucky” in the skin department. The circles under my eyes appear darker and perhaps a little deeper {partly due to sleep deprivation}, and my skin took on a flat and lifeless hue peppered with redness and broken capillaries. Oh…and those hard little white buggers snuggled in under many layers of my epidermis taunting me. Enough was enough.
I was always hesitant to spend money on ‘face washes and creams because honestly my regime of Nivea creme every morning to remove yesterdays makeup was working. But was it?? I realized that I had so many more variables working against me at this point in my life, habitually and environmentally. I needed to make some changes. I needed to take care of myself.
I love going to the spa to get a facial. I actually enjoy a facial more than a massage. So every once in a while I treat myself to one. In my most present hockey life homes of Kinston Ontario, The Annex Spa exclusively, along with one other Medi Spa in the area, uses the most amazing products that I have to share with you. Eminence. You’ll have to search your town or city to find this product and where it is sold/used. It is so worth the search. I was fortunate that one of my best friends introduced this spa and these products to me. I am indebted. I had legitimately noticeable results over a 4 week period. If you are into results and into organic deliciousness for your face, TREAT YOURSELF!
It burns so good! |
My Skin is literally singing…plus their tunes during the facial rub-down are sheer perfection. |
This product is from Hungary, and as I mentioned it is an organic plant-based skin care line. The company has North American home factories in New York and Vancouver, that receive small batches of the crops (to ensure the freshest and purest) and then go through an extensive extraction process to create Eminence. It is then distributed to select spas. If Kingston can find it or Sault Ste. Marie, Canada, you can find it.
Another friend who is a talented aesthetician in Las Vegas, Lisa Thayne Halbrook, began advising me on my skin care concerns. It was all through Instagram and Email too! I sheepishly sent her an up close video of my face detailing all of my concerns and she was on the case! I specifically asked about a different product line but when she found out that I had a few sample sized Eminence products she jovially interjected with, “Wow Kel! You scored!” With that I moved forward.
Beginning with a professional rejunventating and cleansing facial from The Annex, I embarked on a 4 week facial repair blitz. I was committed and there is no better feeling than seeing significant progress to healthy looking skin. Since I had pigmentation issues and some budding dark spots (sun damage!) my aesthetician team recommended the Bright Skin line for my skin needs. Although I do have other products, because they are just too good not to experience a taste of each delectable line.
Over 4 weeks. Result from Right to Left. Less blotchyness and darkness right?! And my skin actually looks like its a thriving organ…Biggest organ in the body after all. |
