This year hubby and I decided with so much going on in our transient lives that we would forgo Christmas gifts to one another. Lately, if we needed something we {I} would just get it. Lordy knows we {I} have spent enough on various things for our new house, new baby on the way, and of course new things for our Little Man who is preparing to be the best big brother ever.
But I just don’t have it in me to not give on Christmas. My hubby works so hard in that crazy hockey world that he rarely {never} takes time for himself or splurges on himself. So I really like to spoil him. Here comes the kicker…how do you buy for a husband who says he doesn’t want any….and he means it!
Well, we decided to not get ‘gifts’ this year but to only do stocking stuffers. Perfect! I’m not going to lie, stockings are my favourite part of the commercial, economic, and materialistic part of Christmas. Of course I wholeheartedly love Christmas because we surround ourselves with friends and family and really get to connect to one another around the Christmas Tree, Dinner Table, or T.V. watching a World Jr Hockey Game, but no one can deny that gifts are bought and given at this time of year.
I’ve had a couple of friends ask what I’m putting in hubby’s stocking and if I had any suggestions for them…Well ladies, I don’t mean to toot my own horn, but I’m really happy the way things played out this year. So if the stocking struggle is real for you right now and you need some ideas, STAT, then look no further! Check out some of my hubby’s stocking stuffers this year.
I’ve separated my stocking stuffers into categories to further organize this process:
TREATS:

| Coca-Cola Classic {his achilles heel}, Doritos {another weakness/obsession}, Kernels Popcorn Flavoring, Gum {useful for the bench boss} and Dipstix {Made by the amazing Jenn Boughner}. **You DON’T have to buy all your treats. Most often homemade treats are the way to go and hit closer to the heart. |
My hubby loves a good snack. Since he is always on the road trips these are compact and handy to throw in his travel bag and enjoy a snack on the bus.
TOILETTRIES/MANLY SUPPLIES

| Hubby is getting travel-sized tooth paste {he always steals our ‘home’ toothpaste when he goes on the road, grrr}, shaving gel, anti-acids, travel go-to hair gel, team inspired dental floss, and of course the standard tooth brush. |
Since your men will be indulging in those tasty treats, they will need some supplies to help bounce back from those sweet treats. I like to give everything in travel size due to hubby’s job but feel free to go big and get the standard size of some of these products. You are totally wide open on this. There are so many options aside from what I am giving this year. You can get it all at your local drug store or grocery store so the search is easy. Throw in products like razors {dang they expensive!}, shampoo, body wash, aftershave, cologne, mouthwash, or oils {add on a handmade massage coupon for later, wink-wink}.

| Travel Trivia cards {we love these for our road trips to the cottage in the summer}, Flashlight with built-in utility knife and a headlamp for those late night fishing excursions at the cottage (purchased at The Source), fishing hooks, and GIFT CARDS! So easy! Hubby loves Starbucks, Five Guys, ITunes, and Bass Pro. |
You have to do a little bit creative thinking on this one as I don’t know exactly what your hubby is into, but I have say GIFT CARDS are amazing. I don’t go all out on them. I do small increments so it’s easy for them to treat themselves. I normally stick to 5, 10, 15 dollar value for the GC’s. Other things you could toss in this stocking category are golf tees, a new golf glove {you might need to investigate what hand he needs one for}, sunglasses, video game, favourite pens, bbq tools, etc.
FEED INTO HIS OBSESSIONS:

| He got spoiled: Book, Tie {his team colours}, Magazine {this mag will probably be his fave of everything I got for him}, a personal humidifier {hotel rooms can be very dry, poor baby}, and technically I cheated on the final ‘stuffer’….I got him a Fit Bit. It “FITS” into a stocking so I stuffed it in there. He works out everyday, doesn’t sleep enough and doesn’t answer his phone enough ha! And this FIT BIT will track his heart rate, calories, and steps. It will track his sleep patterns to let him know if he is getting adequate sleep, and has caller I.D. so he can lovingly be aware when his lovely wife is trying to get ahold of him. |
Again for this one, you have to know what makes him tick. Think about his lifestyle, what his passions are and spoil, spoil, spoil him! I did break the rules in getting bigger ticket items but he is worth it. He always says he works hard so his family can be proud of him. With good intentions and a bit of though, your man can be spoiled with the small spoils of life.
